THE NECKLACE by Guy de Maupassant

SYNOPSIS

The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant tells us about a necklace has changed the lives of a husband and his wife.  The story is about Mathilde Loisel is a beautiful girl.  She comes from wealthy family.  But she got married with a medium man from Ministry of Education.
One night, her husband want bringing her to his company event.  But Mathilde Loisel show her sadness to her husband.  her husband asking her why that she looks sad.  She answered that she has no dress to wear when the event. Then, her husband gave her some money to buy a dress that she love.
After she buying a beautiful dress, she realize that she did not have any accessories to wear.  Again, she show her sadness to her husband.  when he told to her husband, her husband asking her to borrow with Madame Forestier.  Having examined these necklaces eventually, she choose a necklace that is very beautiful.
When the night was come, she drunk and do not realize that her necklace was missing. After searching, still can not find the necklace. she getting worried.
The best way is, they replace the necklace with money.  They buy with a high pay to Madame Forestier.  causing of that, they lose their wealth and money.  After ten years working hard, finally they free from the debt burden causing from the missing of necklace.  By suprise,Mathilde Loisel was meet with Madame Foretier and told her about the necklace.  But Madame Foretier do not recognize her because her face was getting worse because to much work hard.  Madame Foretier said actually, the necklace that Mathilde Loiser borrow is a imitation.

How do you feel after reading the story?

- I feel very disappointed because I do not expert that ending was not like this.  Because their live story so difficult in ten years but ultimately the necklace is a imitation.

Write the ending of the story.

- After a long work, they can live like before in fact, their lives are happier than ever.  Mathilde Loisel promised to change and will no to be selfish again.  The necklace was found apparently, Mathilde Loisel forget to put the necklace on the night of the event.  Mathilde Loisel found the chain in a small bag which is told to her husband.  Loisel and husband want to return the necklace to the Madame Forestier and ask for the money that was secured for damages.  The fact that the necklace is fake.  but they got their money back.  after this, Loisel promised to be a good wife to her husband.  The end.

Who is your favourite character and why do you like the character?

My favourite character is Mathilde Loisel's husband.  He is a good husband.  Whatever that his wife want he try to fulfill. Even they a poor after his wife miss her necklace , but he still stay with his wife.  he is a loyal husband.

MY FRIEND LUKE FERNANDO SORRENTINO by Gustavo Artiles and Alex Patterson

SYNOPSIS

What I love to much about this story show us the other side of people that have any characteristics in their self.

Luke has two character which is  good character and second is he do not have manners.  Best thing about Luke is he is sweetest, shyest person.  he speaks too nice.  he speaks with a very thin, subtle voice and so inaudible.  He never bothering everyone.

But, there were something that I do not like about Luke.  He have no manner when with the driver bus.  How could he holds up one hand to ensure that the driver keeps waiting when he request a ticket and begins to look for his money.  plus, sometimes he is too slowly. 

This story told to us about a man but he do not use his right as a man very well.  Luke is the man. Yes, Luke is very nice person. But, Luke is shy. Luke is scared to his wife because his wife is hot-temper.  Luke have to be loud when face to his wife.  Luke also is a patient of weak lungs.

Unfortunately, pity to him. he have a uncontrol temper wife.  With his wife, he has a son that call Juan Manual.  Mostly, I analyze that actually Luke is good man.  Just because he lost his manner to driver bus and others he look so bad.

The conclusion is we have to having table manner with others.  so that people will salute us!

Why do you think Luke's personality with people who close to him (Luke's wife, Juan Manual and don Aquerontido) different from the passengers on the bus?

- Luke is to shy.  Shyest person usually will change their attitude when he get with the people close to him.  That's why Luke have two character in his life.

Based on your experience, describe anyone in your life that shares similar characteristic with Luke.

- Based on my experience, anyone in my life that shares similar characteristic with Luke is my contacts.  I do not know she to much but when i read this Luke's story, I remember to her.  She is very shyest person but at the same time she failed to control herself when she got anger.  She speak too nice but she has less a table manners.

Write a letter to Luke advising him on how to be a better husband, father, employee and bus passenger.

- Dear Luke,

to be a better man, better husband, father, employee and bus passenger is not easy.  You must having a high level patient.  First is because you a man.  As a man you should show the capability that you can do and you have to manage your family properly so that your wife will not be a 'queen control'.  You have to be brave man and do not to listening your wife too much.  Practice to be a good father to your son, Juan.  you have to rebuild your self-confidence.  Throw your shyest attitude.  It's more better when you be a gentleman. A real man! Besides that, you needs to communicate with other in order to build you confidence.

A FAMILY by Guy de Maupassant

What does the author mean by:
"There was nothing left for him to do in this life, nothing whatever.  He had one single wish left, one sole pleasure; why not grant him that last solace until he died?"

-Monsieur know that his live won't long anymore.  He just ask a one wishes.  Give him freedom and peace for a while.  He does not want to treat like he is nothing.  He is human too, have own feeling.  So, please do respect him!  Stop limited him.

Question 2

Which character did you like or dislike in this short story?  Why?

-In this short story, I do not like the character of Simon.  Simon is too limited about monsieur.  He should understand what monsieur want, but he doesn't realize one thing that monsieur is not happy when he treat monsieur too much.  monsieur is a human too.  He have own right to enjoy his life.

Do you think he "I" is a male or female?  Why do you think so?

-I think "I" is a male because his name is George.  As we known, George is a name for a male.

A FAMILY by Guy de Maupassant

SYNOPSIS

A family is about friendship and life.  a friendship between Simon and George.  friend who go through all the things together.  for years, they had scarcely been separated.  suddenly, Simon got married with a girl from the provinces.
  After separated, they meet again.  but yet, George have a bit shocked when looked at Simon. He is different too much! and another suprise is when he got to knowing that Simon have five children.
  When George go to Simon's house and meet his family, he meet Madam Radevir's grandfather to.  Too old, and paralyzed man! Monsieur.  he can even speak. he only know to muttered.  here, the crisis began.  George shock when Simon, his best friend treat monsieur like nothing! Simon trying to control everything about monsieur's nutrition. monsieur is eighty-seven.
  Simon is too over when comes about monsieur's nutrition.  Yes, its about monsieur good but its too much.  Monsieur's family controlling what he ate and how much he ate due to his health.  family members would tease him telling him he couldn't have any food.  when he become upset the children would laugh out loud at him.
  While at the dinner table, they treat monsieur like children who know nothing.  during the whole meal, they were taken up solely with him.  he devoured the dishes on the table with his eyes, and tried to seize them and pull them over to him with his trembling hands.  When monsieur ate more, Simon will get anger.  And they pretended not to give him any.  Then, monsieur began to cry.  George was seized with pity for this saddening and ridiculous Tantalus.  so they deprived him of his health.  George sad because they treat he old man like that.  There are many moral value we can got from this story.
